Cookie policy
This policy explains how Six Weeks uses cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels, local storage and advertising tags) on this website, how that relates to Google advertising, and how you can control them. It should be read with our privacy notice.
Last updated: 6 August 2026.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Similar technologies can store or access information in comparable ways. Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we must give you clear information and, for most non-essential technologies, obtain your consent before they are used.
Consent (PECR and Google advertising)
Strictly necessary cookies can be used without consent because they are required to provide a service you request or to keep the site secure.
Advertising, personalisation and most measurement technologies used for Google Ads / Google AdSense (or equivalent Google advertising products) require your prior consent in the UK. We do not load those non-essential tags until you accept the relevant category in our cookie controls.
You can accept or reject non-essential cookies. Rejecting advertising cookies will not block access to the editorial content of this site. You can change or withdraw consent later using the same controls or your browser settings.
Categories we use
| Category | Purpose | Consent needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Security, load balancing, remembering your cookie choice, basic contact-form abuse prevention | No |
| Advertising / measurement | Serving ads, limiting ad frequency, measuring clicks and conversions, and — if you consent — helping to show more relevant ads via Google advertising services | Yes |
| Preferences (if enabled) | Remembering non-essential display choices that are not advertising | Yes, unless a PECR exemption clearly applies |
Cookies and similar technologies we may use
Exact names and lifetimes can change when Google updates its products. Typical examples include:
| Name / type | Provider | Purpose | Typical duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cookie_consent (or equivalent) | Six Weeks | Stores your cookie choices so we do not ask on every page load | Up to 12 months | Strictly necessary |
| session / csrf (or equivalent) | Six Weeks | Contact form abuse prevention and session integrity | End of session | Strictly necessary |
| IDE / DSID / and related Google advertising cookies | Ad delivery, frequency capping, measurement; may support personalised advertising if consented | Session to about 13 months (varies) | Advertising | |
| _gcl_au and related Google conversion / linker cookies | Conversion measurement for Google Ads campaigns | Typically up to 90 days | Advertising | |
| NID (where set by Google services) | Preferences and advertising features on Google properties / embedded services | Up to about 6 months | Advertising / preferences (context-dependent) |
Google may also use pixels and similar technologies that are not always listed as classic cookies. Those are treated as advertising / measurement technologies and follow the same consent rules.
Google Ads and AdSense
When you consent to advertising cookies, Google may process data as described in the Google Privacy Policy and Google advertising technologies notice. This can include limited device identifiers and activity used to serve and measure ads.
Six Weeks does not use special category health data from this site to target ads. Contact-form messages are not used for Google advertising.
How to manage cookies
- Use the cookie controls on this site to accept, reject or update advertising preferences.
- Change browser settings to block or delete cookies (note: blocking all cookies may break some features).
- Use Google Ads Settings to manage personalised ads associated with your Google Account.
- Visit Your Online Choices for industry opt-out tools used in the UK / Europe.
Withdrawing consent does not make past processing unlawful. Newly refused advertising tags should stop for future visits on that browser, subject to how your device stores the choice.
Do Not Track
There is no single industry standard for “Do Not Track” browser signals. We rely on the consent choices recorded by our cookie controls and on the opt-out tools above.
